OTDR K-300

A handheld OTDR sized for everyday FTTH and metro work: 1310/1550 nm, up to 120 km of range, a 3.5-inch touch screen, and 0.88 kg with ten hours in the battery.

1310/1550 nm (±20 nm)LD30/28 dB or 32/30 dB (by configuration)3.5 in TFT LCD touch screen

Typical work: FTTH installation and activation — proving the drop before the subscriber visit ends; Metro, WAN and CATV cable maintenance and troubleshooting; Locating breaks and high-loss points after construction damage or rodent bites; Reconstruction work: re-certifying spans after re-splicing and re-routing.

Features

K-300 key features

  • Two builds: 30/28 dB for access and drop work, or 32/30 dB with a built-in 650 nm VFL (≥-3 dBm, 3 km) for jobs that also need visible fault checks
  • Touch screen plus keypad — full control on the trace, and still usable with gloves on in the cabinet
  • Event dead zone 1.8 m and attenuation dead zone 10 m — close-spaced events in closures and distribution boxes still read separately
  • More than 60,000 traces stored and moved out over USB; an optical communications (live signal) test is built in
  • 0.88 kg and ten hours or more of continuous work — a full shift of fault calls on one charge

How It Works

The everyday OTDR job, start to finish

Connect at the closure or the cabinet, choose the range that covers the span — the K-300 steps from 0.3 km for a drop to 120 km for a metro run — and let auto pulse width set itself, or dial the pulse in by hand from 5 ns to 20480 ns. The trace builds over the measurement time you pick, 15 seconds for a quick look or up to 3 minutes of averaging for a clean, low-noise read on a long span.

Reading the trace is the same craft as on any OTDR: a step down is loss at a splice or connector, a spike is a reflective event, and a spike that ends the trace is the break or the fiber end. With a 1.8 m event dead zone, two connectors a couple of metres apart in a distribution box show as two events instead of one smear — which is exactly the situation FTTH fault work throws at you. Save the trace (there is room for more than 60,000) and the next visit starts from evidence, not memory.

FAQ

Questions about the K-300

Can the K-300 carry our own brand?

Private labeling is made to your requirements and confirmed per order — labels with your logo, part numbers and barcodes on the tools, the inner boxes and the outer cartons, ready for your warehouse. The products most often labeled are the K-35 cleaver, the KS-1 Kevlar shears and the K-870 stripper.

Can we order a small lot, unbranded?

Yes. Neutral stock is held for the core range: small lots are welcome, you can mix models in one shipment, and restock as you sell. Prices are on request — EXW factory pricing.
